Watch the bridges come crashing down during the annual Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers Bridge Building Competition on March 4 at Penn State York. The competition begins at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center.
Members of the Penn State York Black Student Union will give a multimedia dramatic reading of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech at 12:15 p.m. on Jan. 30 in the Conference Center of the Main Classroom Building.
Penn State York Benefiting THON is partnering with the American Red Cross for a THON Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Penn State York. The blood drive, in the Community Room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center, is open to the public. The American Red Cross will make a monetary donation to THON for each unit donated.
Auditions for Penn State York Benefiting THON’s Paw Search are set for 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, in the rehearsal room of the Pullo Family Preforming Arts Center on campus. This is the final opportunity to do a live audition for the show, which is schedule for Friday evening, Jan. 20, in The Pullo Center.
Snoopy, dinosaurs, Ninja Turtles, Barbies, aircraft, and a variety of stuffed animals were gathered at Penn State York during the Toys for Tots campaign sponsored by the Student Veterans of America (SVA), York Chapter at the campus. Hundreds of new, unopened, and unwrapped toys were collected through Dec. 9, and then turned over to the First Capital Marine Corps League Toys for Tots program.

The theme of this semester’s Late-night Breakfast, which will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at Rosie’s in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center, is '90s cartoons and Disney.
For the seventh consecutive year, Jimmy Clark, 23, of Red Lion, Pennsylvania will hold Poker with Jimmy, a No Limit Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 13. The tournament has raised about $60,000, over the past six years, for THON and the Four Diamonds Fund (through THON) at the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital for children battling pediatric cancer.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2016-17 Penn State York Advising Award. Students may submit nominations for the award, which is presented at the Academic Awards Program in April of each year.
Penn State York will honor the veterans on campus during a noon lunch on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, in the community room of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center. Faculty, staff, students and members of the community are invited to show their support for veterans, enjoy a free lunch, and hear from two speakers.
The National Day on Writing is Oct. 20, and Penn State York will celebrate with a panel discussion focusing on the topic "Celebrating the Writing in our Lives Professionally and Personally.” The program will be held at 12:15 p.m. in the Lee R. Glatfelter Library and is free and open to the public.
