We are proud of the widely acclaimed, quality education delivered by our faculty and the extensive learning opportunities we provide both inside and outside the classroom. With more than 275 majors available, there is something for everyone at Penn State.
Academic Options
Penn State York gives you options. We offer twelve baccalaureate degrees which can be completed at the York campus, or you can choose to start any Penn State major here before finishing the last two years of your degree at a different Penn State campus. In addition to a wide range of associate and baccalaureate degrees, we also provide students the option of selecting from dozens of academic minors. With careful planning and the consultation of an academic adviser, one or more minors can be completed without requiring additional semesters in college. Earning a minor demonstrates initiative, and is a great way to set you apart in the employment application process or when seeking admission to graduate or professional school.
Undergraduate Research
Many of the faculty who teach at Penn State York are recognized, published world-authorities in their respective disciplines. They are actively conducting research, and frequently have undergraduate students working with them on their projects. Nothing opens more doors for graduating seniors than a strong academic record and co-authorship on a peer-reviewed publication. Students who are engaged in any type of scholarship or creative work are invited to showcase their accomplishments at the campus-wide research exhibition each year in April.
Preparation for Success
The students at Penn State York are diverse in terms of their interests, background, ethnicity, and nationality; we are fortunate to have students from numerous countries as part of our campus community. This diversity creates a dynamic, robust learning environment for all of our students, leading to innovation and the exchange of ideas. The Graham Fellows Program for Entrepreneurial Leadership is a wonderful Penn State York resource that helps students cultivate their leadership skills to better prepare them for success in the workplace. Opportunities at The Graham Center include:
internships
seminars and lectures by leaders and innovators in many disciplines
travel to conferences
professional presence events
dining etiquette programs
Honors Program
Finally, the Penn State York Honors Program offers a special opportunity for students with outstanding academic ability to enrich and broaden their general education and to deepen their preparation for graduate study or for a profession. Students enrolled in the program select from a variety of honors courses, honors options, or independent studies designed to encourage strong students to succeed in the early stages of their University education.
