Penn State York is offering a Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities course deigned to help participants become better supervisors.  The course begins June 5, and registration is under way.

YORK, Pa. — Gain the skills to become a better supervisor with help from Penn State York’s Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities (MDEV 6000) course being offered on Tuesdays, June 5-26, in Lancaster and York.

The course will be held at the Lancaster location at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, from 8:30 a.m. to noon; and at the York location at Penn State York, 1031 Edgecomb Ave., from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

“It would be advantageous for supervisors, especially new supervisors, to take this course because it identifies the challenges, expectations and demands involved with moving into a supervisory role,” said Erin Nelsen, continuing education associate at Penn State York. “The course is designed to help individuals assess their management style, communicate more effectively, build quality work relationships, and lead others.”

This course is designed for newly appointed supervisors, those aspiring to supervisory roles, and those in supervisory roles who do not have formal training. Topics include meeting supervisory responsibilities, communicating effectively, building working relationships and leading others. This highly interactive course includes exercises and self-assessments. Materials covered in the course identify the challenges, expectations and demands involved with moving into a supervisory role.
