Penn State Laureate to visit York campus Oct. 19

“Art + Engineering = Creative Problem-solving” will the topic when Rebecca Strzelec, professor of visual arts at Penn State Altoona and the 2016-17 Penn State Laureate, visits Penn State York on Oct. 19. Strzelec will speak at noon in the rehearsal room of the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center. The program is free and open to the public.

Writing is something we all do, let's celebrate it Oct. 20

The National Day on Writing is Oct. 20, and Penn State York will celebrate with a panel discussion focusing on the topic "Celebrating the Writing in our Lives Professionally and Personally.” The program will be held at 12:15 p.m. in the Lee R. Glatfelter Library and is free and open to the public.

Student center project has special meaning for Penn State York student

When Luke Marsiglia enters Penn State York’s Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center, not only is he excited about the great new $13.5 million renovation and addition to the facility, he knows exactly what went into it because he was a part of the project. Marsiglia, a York student majoring in electro-mechanical engineering technology (EMET), has been working with Alexander Building Construction Co., as an intern through The Graham Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies (The Graham Center) program at the campus.

Essay contest invites students to answer a question and share their stories

"Why did you choose Penn State York" or "What degree are you pursuing and why?" Current students at Penn State York have the opportunity to answer one of those questions and show their Penn State pride by participating in the 2016 Penn State Pride Essay Contest sponsored by the Penn State York Blue & White Society. The deadline for submission is Oct. 24. The first-place prize is a $75 Penn State York bookstore credit, second place is a $50 credit, and third place is a $25 credit.

The Penn State York community will come together at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 6 to help kick off an ongoing University-wide initiative that brings students, faculty and staff together to show their commitment to cultivating a diverse and inclusive environment — respectful of everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, abilities, background, veteran’s status, political beliefs, and all the ways we differ.

Groups join forces to gather school supplies for homeless children

There’s still time to donate school supplies for children in need. The Penn State York Council on Family Relations (CFR) Club and the Human Development and Family Studies Affiliated Program Group (APG) of the Penn State York Alumni Society have joined forces with Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH), to help collect school supplies now through Sept. 30 at the campus.
