Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, according to the American Red Cross. Penn State York Benefiting THON is partnering with the American Red Cross for a THON Blood Drive on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Penn State York.
Penn State York Benefiting THON is joining with the American Red Cross for a blood drive on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Precision Custom Components (PCC) Community Room in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center on campus. The blood drive is open to the public.
Penn State York will honor the late Maddie Hill again during the fourth annual Maddie Hill Basketball Game on Tuesday, Jan. 14 on campus. A Four Diamonds Child, Hill battled cancer three times and inspired others to Fight Like Hill.

Mother, uncle, friend — each of Penn State York’s THON dancers has experienced cancer though the loss of someone they knew well. Justin Neal lost his mother to cervical cancer eight years ago. Yaribeth Ocasio lost her uncle to prostate cancer, and Kelsey Haines lost a friend and former Penn State York student to leukemia. All three will represent their campus in the fight against pediatric cancer at the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately known as THON, Feb. 15-17 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
