Give Local York fundraiser is set for May 7 and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Penn State York hopes to raise funds to help sustain their programming for adults who never want to stop learning.
A proud supporter of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Penn State York, Diane Delozier plans to participant in Give Local York (GLY) 2021. Delozier has been a member of OLLI since 2016 and is an active participant in courses and other programs designed for adults who never want to stop learning.
Paige Barlow, Alvin Chen, and Jen Taylor, York's THON dancers, left to right, looked strong for the final fours hours of of THON. All three completed the 46-hour dance marathon and were a part of the more than $11 million raised by the University for children and their families battling pediatric cancer and research to find a cure.
Penn State York students, faculty, staff and members of the York community participated in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event last year. The group hopes for more participants this year in support of this YWCA event.
Showing his Penn State Pride, Josh Wolgamuth, a Penn State York student, wore these bedazzled high heels during the 2018 Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event. This year will mark Wolgamuth's fifth time walking in the event that raises awareness and helps survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and human trafficking.
Last year, the Penn State York Walk a Mile Team raised $1,730 to benefit the York YWCA and its programs to help prevent violence against women and girls. The campus' goal for this year is to top the $2,000 mark and have 30 walkers. The event takes place on Oct. 4 in downtown York, Pennsylvania, and there's still time to register.
The 11th annual clay shoot to benefit Penn State York Athletics is set for Wednesday, May 1, at Central Penn Sporting Clays in Wellsville, Pennsylvania. Brandon Short, Penn State Board of Trustees member and former Penn State Nittany Lion and NFL linebacker, is the celebrity guest.
Fighting for his life is something Jimmy Clark, 25, understands well. A cancer survivor, Clark will host the ninth annual Poker with Jimmy, a No Limit Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 11. The tournament has raised more than $75,000 over the past eight years, for THON and the Four Diamonds Fund (through THON) at the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital for children battling pediatric cancer. This year’s event takes place at the Goodwill Fire Company, 2318 S. Queen St., York, Pennsylvania. Doors open at 10 a.m. with play beginning at 11 a.m.

Central Penn Sporting Clays in Wellsville, Pennsylvania, is the site of the tenth annual clay shoot set for Thursday, April 26. This annual event benefits the athletic programs at Penn State York, and last year it raised more than $20,000.
