Groundbreaking set for new building at Penn State York

A groundbreaking ceremony set for 1 p.m. April 17 signals the beginning of a construction project to build the Graham Center for Innovation and Collaboration at Penn State York. "The Graham Center for Collaboration and Innovation will transform the Penn State York campus. It will provide a permanent home for our growing Graham Fellows program and allow the campus to offer new entrepreneurial leadership programs open to every student on our campus,” said David Christiansen, chancellor of Penn State York.

One-day workshop addresses health care needs of aging LGBTQ+ community members

Selecting an assisted living community, personal care home, or nursing home can be difficult for senior citizens who face health care issues, but it can even be more difficult for LGBTQ+ elders. Penn State York is offering a one-day workshop, LGBTQ+ Topics for Health Care Professionals, set for 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 27 in the Precision Custom Components Community Room at the campus.

Penn State York lifelong learning group to participate in Give Local York

For almost 700 mature adults who never want to stop learning, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Penn State York provides a variety of classes to enhance their lives, expand their minds, and have fun. OLLI is a nonprofit organization, and one of more than 300 participating in Give Local York, a 24-hour fundraising event across York County. This year, the online day of giving is Friday, May 3.

Mark Brennan, professor and UNESCO Chair in Community, Leadership, and Youth Development in the College of Agricultural Sciences, and Ali Kara, professor of business administration at Penn State York, are the recipients of Penn State's 2019 Milton S. Eisenhower Award for Distinguished Teaching.

Adult Learner Open House set for April 4 at Penn State York

Penn State York’s Adult Learner Open House is designed to assist adults in exploring educational opportunities available at the campus whether they are taking college classes for the first time or returning to the classroom for professional development. The free event is set from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center on campus. RSVP is helpful but not required.

Penn State York honors students, faculty and staff on April 28

Achievements of outstanding students, faculty and staff for the 2018-19 academic year will be recognized during the 48th annual Penn State York Awards Ceremony set for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28, with awards being presented beginning at 2:30 p.m. The event will take place at Heritage Hills Golf Resort, 2700 Mt. Rose Ave., York, Pennsylvania. More than 80 awards will be presented during the program.
