Nominations are being accepted for the 2017 James H. Burness Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award is given annually to recognize any aspect of excellent instruction that contributes to the academic quality of Penn State York.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2016-17 Penn State York Advising Award. Students may submit nominations for the award, which is presented at the Academic Awards Program in April of each year.
The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately known as THON, is an unforgettable experience for anyone who attends. For Penn State York students, Hunter Beck, 18; Shawnee Hostetter, 20; and Ryan Manganello, 18; not only will THON 2017 mark their first attendance at the event, it will also provide the opportunity for them to dance.

Showing off their smooth dances moves, Ryan Maganello, Shawnee Hostetter and Hunter Beck will be representing Penn State York at THON Weekend, Feb. 17-19 at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus. They will be on their feet for 46-hours dancing in honor of those children who are battling pediatric cancer and for those who have lost their lives. They THON to help find a cure for pediatric cancer.

This free program, sponsored by the Penn State York Diversity Committee in celebration of Black History Month, is open to the public.

Jeff Barkdoll, interim athletic director and head baseball coach, has been named the first full-time athletic director at Penn State York. Barkdoll began the position Feb. 1.
Jeff Barkdoll has been the head baseball coach at Penn State York since 2013. He will now be involved with all the athletic programs in his new role as athletic director. In addition to baseball, Penn State York offers men's and women's basketball, soccer, women's softball, and women's volleyball. Barkdoll served as the interim athletic director since June 2016 and began his new position Feb. 1.
Jeff Barkdoll has been named the athletic director at Penn State York, and it is the first time in campus history that this position is a full-time one. Barkdoll has the opportunity to help continue to develop the athletic program, and gets to do so in the newly-renovated Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center that opened in October 2016.
