Military Appreciation Month was initially recognized by a resolution in the U.S. Senate in 1999 and traditionally takes place every year throughout the entire month of May, reminding Americans to celebrate this patriotic month that pays tribute to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. Penn State University celebrates Military Appreciation Month in November.
There are twenty-six student-veterans enrolled at Penn State York (fall semester 2023) who have identified as veterans. These student-veterans have one of the following military-affiliated statuses: active duty, National Guard, Reserves, and veteran. They represent the following branches of the United States Armed Force – Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy.
Posters are being displayed throughout the month of November around campus highlighting education benefits and other resources available to veterans and their families. The poster series is sponsored by the Penn State York Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
