Student Disability Resources

Penn State York is committed to providing a welcoming, encouraging, and empowering environment for students with disabilities to ensure equal access, full participation, and reasonable accommodations for their academic pursuits. We offer students with disabilities additional support, advocacy, and academic/classroom accommodations to assist with meeting their educational objectives and goals.

Penn State encourages academically qualified students with disabilities to take advantage of its educational programs. It is the policy of the University not to discriminate against the disabled in its admission policies, procedures or its educational programs, services, and activities. No qualified student with a disability may be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, any course or course of study on the basis of disability.

Students who are seeking services at Penn State York must self-disclose the need for academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, and/or services. For a student's disorder or impairment to be considered a disability, the student must demonstrate through documentation that the disorder/impairment meets the definition of a disability under Title II of the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. A disability is defined as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.

Students who wish to request accommodations based on a disability should contact Joel Gugino, the disability contact liaison, at [email protected] or call 717-771-4013. Students requesting accommodation must complete the required forms and participate in an intake interview. Documentation supporting the request for accommodations must be submitted when requesting services and cannot be more than three years old. Documentation is specific to the student's type of disability.
