The Nittany Lion joined Penn State York students, faculty, and staff in the 2016 NAMI Walk on Oct. 8 in York, Pennsylvania.  The walk is a public way to show support for the National Alliance on Mental Illness and their services to those living with mental illness.

Holocaust survivor Peter Stein to share his story Nov. 2 at Penn State York

Penn State York’s free cultural series continues on Nov. 2 when Holocaust survivor Peter Stein shares his story, “Surviving the Holocaust: Memories of a Czech Family in Nazi Prague." The program will take place at 7 p.m. in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center and is free and open to the public, although tickets are required. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Esther Bauer, the originally scheduled speaker for the evening, is unable to appear.

Celebrate Diwali Oct. 27 at Penn State York

Paint a Diya, (a clay candleholder), see colorful decorations, enjoy Indian food, and listen to music during the Diwali celebration set for Thursday, Oct. 27 from 4-6 p.m. in the conference center of the Main Classroom Building. The event is sponsored by the Penn State York Diversity Committee.

Penn State York students show off Diwali decorations during the 2015 celebration of the Indian Festival of Lights.  The event this year takes place on Oct. 27 from 4-6 p.m. in the conference center on campus.

Those who attend Diwali will have the opportunity to paint a Diya, a clay candle holder, and take it home.  There will aslo be plenty of food, music, and fun.

Penn State Laureate to visit York campus Oct. 19

“Art + Engineering = Creative Problem-solving” will the topic when Rebecca Strzelec, professor of visual arts at Penn State Altoona and the 2016-17 Penn State Laureate, visits Penn State York on Oct. 19. Strzelec will speak at noon in the rehearsal room of the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center. The program is free and open to the public.
