Terri Van Slyke, head women's basketball coach at Penn State York, center, greets shooters during last year's event which raised $15,000 for the athletic programs at Penn State York.  The 2017 event is set for Thursday, April 20 in Central Penn Sporting Clays in Wellsville, Pennsylvania.  This year's celebrity guest is Franco Harris, former Penn State NIttany Lion great, Steeler Super Bowl champ, and Pro Bowl Hall of Famer.

International music, a fashion show highlighting the traditional dress from many cultures, food samples, exhibits, and presentations will all be a part of Penn State York’s 19th annual Unity Day celebration, which will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. April 13 in the Conference Center of the Main Classroom Building.

A design by Zixin Zheng, a Penn State York international student from Hangzhou, China, was selected as the winner for the Unity Day T-shirt for 2017. Zheng’s design, which features a hand tossing the letters in the word "unity," and lots of color, was inspired by the unitive spirit of Unity Day. Zheng said, “I designed a hand that looks like it is holding every letter from the word unity together, with an iridescent splash-ink background. I added all kinds of shapes around the letters for further embodying the concept of unity.”

Penn State York's 19th annual Unity Day celebration will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. April 13 in the Conference Center of the Main Classroom Building. International music, a fashion show highlighting the traditional dress from many cultures, food samples, exhibits, and presentations are a part of the day. The event, sponsored by the Penn State York Diversity Committee, is free and open to the public.
