This spring Penn State expects to award 13,894 diplomas to students University-wide who are completing 226 associate, 11,435 baccalaureate, 1,590 master’s, 262 law, 244 doctoral and 137 medical degrees. Summer classes offer students a chance to get ahead for fall, catch up on classes, or just get started. The first summer session begins May 15 and continues through June 23, while the second summer session begins June 28 and runs through Aug. 9.
The Integrative Studies Seed Grant Program, offered through the Penn State Office for General Education, will support 71 different course development projects this summer. In response to the large volume of highly qualified proposals, the budget was generously increased by more than 50 percent by the Office of the Provost and the Office of Undergraduate Education.

Shannon McCully is a manager, industrial engineering, supporting global marketing and sales at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts in Orlando, Florida, and is the commencement speaker at Penn State York. A 1996 graduate of Penn State with a bachelor of science in industrial engineering, McCully began her career with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts in June 1996, just a month after graduating from the University.
Summer is s good time for students to take courses that they may not wish to schedule with a full course load in fall or spring. Penn State York offers two six-week summer sessions designed to help students make the summer count.
