Penn State York is offering a Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities course deigned to help participants become better supervisors. The course begins June 5, and registration is under way.
Penn State York is offering a 20-hour Spanish course designed to help prepare students to talk with members of the Spanish-speaking community. This noncredit course begins Wednesday, June 6, and continues each Wednesday through Aug. 15, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Penn State York is offering Spanish 1, a noncredit course, beginning June 6 at the campus. Class will take place in Room 112 of the John J. Romano Administration Building.
John Champagne, professor of English and chair of the Global Languages and Cultures program at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, has been named Penn State Laureate for the 2018-19 academic year.
“Graduates, whenever the opportunity arises, practice your compassion, be an active listener, be respectful of everyone, be sympathetic, and most of all, strive to be understanding, as knowledge is power,” said David W. Chown, chancellor of Penn State York and the commencement speaker during Penn State York’s 48th annual spring commencement May 4.
Trevor Frank Tranchina takes advantage of the open microphone to say thank you to family, friends, and Penn State York faculty and staff for their support. Tranchina earned a bachelor of science in biology.
Heather Kreiser, returning to Penn State York to receive a master's degree in professional studies in homeland security, takes a quick selfie with the Nittany Lion prior to the commencement ceremony May 4. Kreiser earned a bachelor of science degree in human development and family studies at York in 2014, and returned to the campus she loves to receive her master's degree.
Presiding over commencement for the last time at Penn State York, Chancellor David W. Chown served two roles during the event, removing his cap to fulfill his responsibility as the commencement speaker during the May 4 ceremony. Chown encouraged York graduates to embrace their humanity.
Christine McKinley, mechanical engineer, musician, television celebrity and author, is the featured speaker at "Pathways to Your Future Exploring STEAM Careers," set for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11 at Penn State York. Pathways to Your Future offers seventh-grade girls the opportunity to explore a variety of job-related fields in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.
