Mohamed ElSonbaty, an electrical engineering major from Cairo, Egypt, performs lab work at Penn State York. ElSonbaty will move on to University Park to complete his degree as part of the 2+2 program. Penn State York offers a four-year degree in electro-mechanical engineering technology, and associate degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering technology that can be completed without leaving York. The campus will offer a review course in fall 2017 for the Fundamentals for Engineering exam.
Penn State York's Spend a Summer Day program also features an evening option. Spend a Summer Evening is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, and Spend a Summer Day for 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, July 25. The program is free and open to the public, and is an excellent way to learn more about opportunities at Penn State and see the York campus.
Educators can take advantage of weeklong graduate course this summer, Social Justice and Equity in Education, set for June 19-23 at Penn State York. This course is designed to help prepare teachers, and others in related fields, to employ a culturally responsive lens by exploring social justice and equity across the curriculum. Kathy Roy, associate professor of literacy education at Penn State Harrisburg and coordinator of the literary education program, is the course instructor. The course features 10 breakout sessions and five nationally-known keynote speakers and presenters.
