Penn State York will honor the late Maddie Hill on Tuesday, Jan. 14, in a ceremony between the women's and men's basketball games. This plaque hangs in the student affairs office at Penn State York as a remembrance of her heroic fight against cancer and her dedication to the cause. Hill battled cancer three times and never gave up on finding a cure for pediatric cancer. She canned with Penn State York Benefiting THON and was an active member of the group even while undergoing chemotherapy. Hill died on June 29, 2016.
Penn State York hosted the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments (CCSG) on Nov, 2 and 3, and State Representative Carol-Hill Evans, 95th Legislative District, York, Pennsylvania, shared her experiences in public service as well as her Penn State pride. She is the commencement speaker at the York campus on Friday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. in the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center). Hill-Evans attended Penn State York where she earned an associate of science degree in Business Administration and a bachelor of science in Business. She credits her positive experience at the campus with leading her to a career in public service.
Ali Kara, professor of business administration and program coordinator for the new Project and Supply Chain Management degree at Penn State York, works with business students during a marketing class. The program begins in fall 2019, and is designed to prepare business professionals to enter the workforce with the tools to manage projects and supply chains in all aspects of business.
Nominations are being accepted for the 2018-19 James H. Burness Award for Excellence in Teaching. Fall nominations are open through Dec. 7. Jessica Petko, assistant professor of biology, and James Miller, adjunct lecturer in mathematics, were the 2018 honorees.
