Winners of the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Championship, the Penn State York men's basketball teams their overtime win against Penn State Wilkes-Barre, 57-56, at the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday, Feb. 24. The team now moves on to play in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship Tournament on Sunday, March 3, and takes on Central Penn College at 2 p.m.
Hannah Bartkowski, Penn State York student and Sherlock Holmes fan, will help celebrate International Sherlock Holmes Day at noon on Thursday, March 21, in the Lee. R. Glatfelter Library on campus. As part of an independent study course with Jennifer Nesbitt, associate professor of English, Bartkowski has planned a program that includes a live reading and a variety of other activities to share information about the world's most famous fictional detective.
The 36th annual York County Science and Engineering Fair will be held March 4-6 in the Conference Center at Penn State York. The projects will be open to the public from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6.
Students explored the True Black History Museum when it visited the campus on Jan. 30, as an early Black History Month event sponsored by the Penn State York Office of Student Affairs. The traveling black history museum included more than 1,000 artifacts and original documents from historic figures dating from the late 1700s to the 21st century. The collection includes original documents from Booker T. Washington, Mary McLeod Bethune, George Washington Carver, Rosa Parks, Frederick Douglass, Angela Davis, President Barack Obama, and many other prominent African-Americans.
