Maddie Malfara speaks at Penn State Brandywine's commencement.

After receiving her diploma from Chancellor Kristin Woolever, Penn State Brandywine biology graduate Maddie Malfara took a moment to thank family, friends and faculty members for their support. In addition to being a member of the campus' softball team, Malfara was a Schreyer Honors Scholar who conducted research alongside Assistant Professor of Biology Megan Povelones.

Popp, 25, will complete her goal of earning a degree when she crosses the stage of the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center during commencement at 6 p.m. on May 3.

Joan Smeltzer, assistant teaching professor of mathematics at Penn State York, left, is the 2019 recipient of the Teresa Cohen Mathematics Service Award. Christiansen was one of the participants in the pie-eating contest held as part of the event to celebrate all things Pi, and pie.
