2019 THON Dancers and Chairpersons

Raising money for children battling pediatric cancer, Penn State York students put on their dancing shoes for the 46-hour Penn State Dance Marathon. Penn State York holds a variety of events to raise money For The Kids, and sends dancers to THON every year. The THON group is just one of the more than twenty clubs and organizations at the campus. Lunar New Year Celebration

Lunar New Year, sometimes referred to as Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, is celebrated each year at Penn State York.   The festivities are free and open to the campus community.  The event is sponsored by Global Programs, Cultural Diversity and Enrichment Committee, and the Chinese Undergraduate Student Association (CUSA) at the campus.  The event features a variety of activities including learning to paint Chinese characters, cutting intricate designs from rice paper, lantern painting, the Chopstick Challenge, Chinese card games, Mahjong, and sampling Asian food.

Men’s Basketball, 2019 PSUAC Champions

We are the champions!  The Penn State York men’s basketball team won the 2019 Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Championship with a last-second score in overtime against the #1 seed, Penn State Wilkes-Barre. In addition to men’s basketball, Penn State York offers, baseball, golf for men and women, soccer, women’s softball, and women’s volleyball.

Take a break and relax at the beach, located outside the Main Classroom Building.  This popular student area includes a water feature and plenty of tables and chairs for students to meet and talk with friends, study, or just breathe.

Undergraduate Research in Biology

Studying their eight-legged friends, and increasing their spidey-sense, Madison Winkowski, a Penn State York student majoring in biology, loads a protein gel for her dopamine receptor pharmacology project that was funded by her Rodney A. Erickson Discovery Grant. Dr. Jessica Petko, fondly known as the spider lady at Penn State York, gives her an assist and led a team of students last summer who performed research on the common house spider. The research continues with more this summer and more grant recipients.

Financial Services Internship

Putting their summer to good use, Frank Ross, left, and Koven Leatherman, Penn State York students in The Graham Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies (The Graham Center), meet with Amy Harmon Krtanjek, lecturer in engineering at the Penn State York campus as part of a summer internship. The students had the opportunity to do research in the financial services industry for a reputable financial services company in the Philadelphia area. The company normally uses graduate students from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, Harvard, or Wharton to do research!
