A shoebox of joy can make all the difference in a child's life and Mindy Gruzin, a Penn State York student, knows well because she received a shoebox back when she was 9-years-old and living in a Baltimore orphanage. Gruzin still has her shoebox and some of its contents. Gruzin shared her story with friends, and they decided to work with Operation Holiday Shoebox and make it a campus event.

Billy Dunkle. Penn State York's financial aid coordinator, has moved to room 324 of the Lee R. Glatfelter Library. In addition to general financial aid, Dunkel also works with student veterans on campus.
Penn State York's Main Classroom Building will be closing for the spring semester for renovations. Ryan Service, director of enrollment services, packs up boxes to be moved to room 102 on the lower level of the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center. The admissions office has already moved to the new location and will be there until renovations are complete in June 2020. Additional offices, classrooms and labs in the building will be moving during the next few weeks.
Sukhdeep Gill, professor of human development and family studies and HDFS 429 course instructor, standing, helps out during last year's Universal Children's Day celebration at Penn State York. Gill has her students plan and implement the event which helps raise awareness about the rights of children and families. The Universal Children's Day celebration is set to begin at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the Precision Custom Components (PCC) Community Room in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center.
In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, the Piscataway Nation Singers & Dancers will give a free performance on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Penn State York. The performance, at 12:15 p.m. in the conference center of the Main Classroom Building, is open to the public.
Matt Rotonda, Penn State York's new head men's basketball coach, brings plenty of experience to the position. A former player at York campus, Rotonda has served as the the assistant men's basketball coach since 2011.
