Jamila Bowen hopes her experience working on the help desk at Penn State York will lead to a job with Google, something she has dreamed about since she was 8 years old. Bowen will cross the stage at Penn State York's 19th annual fall commencement on Dec. 20 to receive an associate degree in information sciences and technology.

Penn State York will be closed for semester break beginning Friday, Dec. 20, following commencement.  The campus will re-open on Jan. 2, 2020, with most day and evening classes beginning Monday. Jan. 13.

Late-night Breakfast, one of Penn State York's most popular events, is set for 7-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in Rosie's, located in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center. This free event, featuring faculty and staff serving students breakfast foods, is designed to help students relax as they prepare for finals.

Toys for Tots 2019 at York

Members of the Student Veterans of America (SVA), York Chapter, put together Toys for Tots boxes to gather as many toys as possible for needy children and their families.  Collections bins are spread throughout the campus and donations can be made until noon on Thursday, Dec. 19.  Cameron Flemmens, president of the SVA at Penn State York; Walter Packowski, and Robert Reynolds, left to right, all student-veterans, are hoping for a successful toy drive.

Parrish Petry Night is set for Friday, Dec. 6, when Penn State York honors Parrish Petry, the recently retired head men's basketball coach.  In addition to honoring Petry, the 2019 Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) banner will be unveiled.  Petry, on the far left holding a Nittany Lion statue, lead the York team to four PSUAC championships in his more than tean years as head coach.

Abraham "Abe" Amorós Commencment Speaker

Abraham “Abe” Amorós, Penn State class of 1990, president of Amorós Communications in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and member of the Penn State Board of Trustees, is the commencement speaker at Penn State York's 19th annual fall commencement on Dec. 20. He began his Penn State education at the York campus. In addition to speaking during the ceremony, Amorós will see his daughter, Sabrina, graduate with a degree in human development and family studies.

Nominations are being gathered for the 2019-20 James H. Burness Award for Excellence in Teaching. The fall deadline is Dec. 13.
