Ready to dance For The Kids, Paige Barlow, Alvin Chen, lower level, and Jen Taylor, are dancing at THON to remember those lost to cancer, and help find a cure.
Diamonds in the air, Jen Taylor, Alvin Chen, and Paige Barlow will represent Penn State York Benefiting THON at the Penn State Dance Marathon, THON, on Feb. 21-23 at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College. All three dancers worked throughout the year helping to raise money for children and their families battling pediatric cancer, and will participate in the 46-hour event. There's still time to donate!
Penn State York's golf team has received 200 clubs thanks to the generous donation of Len Vadas. Mwende "FreeQuency" Katwiwa will share her spoken word poetry at Penn State York on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 12:15 p.m. in the Precision Custom Components (PCC) Community Room. The program is free and open to the public.
Nicholas Kristof, a two-time Pulitzer-prize winner and New York Times columnist, is set to speak at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, in Penn State York's Pullo Family Performing Arts Center. He will share his experiences in a presentation titled "Why Students Should Care About the World - and Change It." The program is free and open to the public.
Jan Hargrave, CEO of Hargrave & Associates, is set to discuss the power of body language and understanding it during her presentations Feb. 4 in York. The programs are sponsored by the Graham Fellows Program and the Women's Philanthropic Network at Penn State York.
Leadership training last year featured retired Brig. Gen. Maureen LeBoeuf, a faculty member at Thayer Leader Development Group at West Point, who spoke on the topic “Developing a Philosophy of Leadership.” This year, participants in the morning training session will hear from Jan Hargrave, one of the nation's leading behavioral authorities, body language expert, and trial consultant. At noon, students in the Graham Fellows Program for Entrepreneurial Leadership will also hear from Hargrave.
