Improving their "spidey-sense," the spider women of Penn State York spent the summer of 2018 studying their eight-legged friends, the common house spider, as part of an undergraduate research project with Jessica Petko, assistant professor of biology. Mackenzie Nolt, Kathryn Bruce, Jessica Petko, Madison Winkowski, and Mindy Gruzin, left to right, were part of The Petko Lab. Bruce, Gruzin, and Winkowski were recipients of the Rodney A. Erickson Discovery Grant and received $3,500 each to do research with Petko. Bruce also received a $500 Academy of Science Grant. All four students graduated on May 9, 2020.
Congratulations to the Class of 2020 is the message on the marquee on Rathton Rd., in York, Pennsylvania, to honor Penn State York graduates. The marquee is used to promote events at the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center on campus, as well as other activities.
