Learning System Certification Preparation (MGMT 9436)

SHRM-CP™ and SHRM-SCP™ – About the Program

As an approved education partner with SHRM, Penn State instructors combine expert instruction with the 2022 SHRM Learning System to offer a comprehensive and effective way to prepare for success on the SHRM-CP™ or SHRM-SCP™ exam. Students will:

  • Gain one-on-one guidance to help you comprehend and learn to apply your new HR knowledge.
  • Engage with a proven SHRM Learning System that dynamically adjust to students’ interaction.
  • Acquire the knowledge and understand the behavioral competencies you need to prepare to pass the exam.
  • Network and collaborate with peers to share real-life examples and bring HR knowledge and competencies to life.
  • Stay on track to earn your certification with a structured learning experience and support.

Eligibility Requirements

The SHRM-CP™ and SHRM-SCP™ certifications are built upon the SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge (BoCK™), which is more than an exam outline. It defines the standards for knowledge, strategies and competencies required for effective HR professionals around the world. Eight behavioral competencies and fifteen functional areas that every HR professional should know are included in this intense review.

To be eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP™ and SHRM-SCP™ exams, you must meet specific educational and work experience criteria at the time you submit your application. For details on SHRM exam eligibility requirements, visit shrm.org.

Career Potential

Certification is a great choice for HR professionals who want to:

  • Increase their knowledge
  • Advance their skills
  • Earn recognition from the global community

By becoming SHRM certified, you prove your knowledge, competency and value to colleagues and to employers looking for a competitive edge in today's global economy. Wherever your career takes you, your SHRM certification will define you as an HR expert and leader, and our review course can help you get there.

Are you a member of an HR team, but not seeking certification?  Consider advancing your career and improve your HR skills by attending the SHRM CP/SCP course to strengthen your professional development by refreshing key ideas and concepts, reinforcing your understanding of core behavior and technical competencies, and increasing your workplace productivity.

Need help to determine which exam to take? This guide will help you determine which exam is right for you; then, determine your exam eligibility.
