Penn State York student earns award for dental materials research

Penn State York student Michelle Lam earned second place in the Organic Chemistry II division at the 89th Intercollegiate Student Chemists Convention for her research on copper-infused dental resins designed to improve durability and reduce bacterial growth. Guided by faculty mentor Andrew Landis, associate professor of chemistry at Penn State York, Lam’s award-winning project highlights the impact of undergraduate research, hands-on learning and mentorship in preparing students to address real-world challenges in healthcare and science.

Neumann, Petko earn Rosemary Schraer Mentoring Award 

Beth Neumann, administrative assistant for Penn State’s Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, and Jessica Petko, associate professor of biology and science at Penn State York, are the recipients of the 2026 Rosemary Schraer Mentoring Award.

Penn State Laureate plans to explore commonwealth through a documentary lens

As the 2025-26 Penn State Laureate, filmmaker and associate professor Pearl Gluck is traveling across the commonwealth to share her films and examine how storytelling lives within communities — not only in places, but through the people who care for them: archivists, artists, educators, librarians, museum guides and local historians who serve as keepers of cultural memory.
