Scholarships for Incoming First Year Students
First year students offered admission to Penn State York are automatically considered for scholarships based off of their Penn State application. Scholarships at Penn State York typically range from $500 to $2,000. For additional consideration, complete the scholarship application.
Students should complete the Penn State application and supporting application materials (self-reported academic record, and SAT or ACT scores) as soon as possible.
Approximately 50 percent of scholarships awarded at Penn State York require demonstrated financial need in addition to merit. Students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by December 1 for maximum consideration. Completion of the FAFSA will also result in students being reviewed for additional federal and state financial aid.
If students are awarded a scholarship from Penn State York, the student will receive a letter in the mail separate from the admissions offer packets.
Scholarships for Incoming Transfer Students
Transfer students who have been offered admission to Penn State York are automatically considered for scholarships. Students who qualify for merit based awards will be contacted by Erin Nelson and invited to submit a transfer scholarship essay. Scholarships at Penn State York typically range from $500 to $2,000.
Financial need is a factor, so students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Completion of the FAFSA will also result in students being reviewed for additional federal and state financial aid.
If students are awarded a scholarship from Penn State York, the student will receive a letter in the mail separate from the admissions offer packets.
Scholarships for Returning Penn State York Students
Current students who would like to be considered for scholarships must complete a 2019-20 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The students then need to complete the Penn State York Returning Student Application by May 1.
Annual awards are made from a variety of funds, typically ranging from $500 to $2,000.
Awards are based on demonstrated academic performance and financial need.
Most scholarships are not automatically renewable. Students are encouraged to apply each year.
To be considered for a Penn State York Scholarship current students must:
- Complete a 2019–20 FAFSA
- Have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher at the end of the spring semester
- Be returning to Penn State York for at least the fall 2019 semester
